Deborah Wenzel opening at the Otero Artspace In June NewMexicoConservativeNews.com

Otero Arts will feature the artwork of Deborah Wenzel of Ruidoso at the Artspace opening on Thursday June 5th from 5-7at the Otero Artspace, 1118 Indiana Avenue. Wenzel, a graphic designer, artist and teacher in Ruidoso Public schools retired early from teaching due to vision loss. She suffers from Retinitis Pigmentosa, a progressive genetic disorder that causes loss of peripheral vision, dim light blindness and visual snow. Despite this handicap she still is able to paint as she has a little remaining central vision.

Wenzel’s artwork is full of color, shapes and animals. One would not think she had a visual handicap. Her training as a graphic designer comes through in her compositions and color palette. Her show, “Seeing Differently” is open Thursdays through Sundays 1-4 at the Otero Artspace, 1118 Indiana Avenue and 12th streets in Alamogordo. The show closes Saturday June 28th.
