Otero Arts located at 1118 Indiana at 12th Street, on the edge of Alamogordo’s Cultural Arts and History District, has many events throughout the year that are inclusive and supportive of our military, veterans and those connected to the military. 

Nearly all general interest activities at OTERO ARTS are free to military and their families, and include:

– Free monthly Art Classes for kids and for adults 

– Free quarterly lectures and book signings by published authors

– Free classes for HS kids on Flash Fiction – Free Journal Jam Workshops for adults 

– Free scholarly lectures by local archeologists
and historians – Free Art Gallery Admission Thu-Sun(exhibits rotate monthly)

– A variety of opportunities for active duty and their families to exhibit (and sell) their artwork

– Nominal entry fees for Weekly Belly Dancing Classes, Monthly Concerts, Monthly Screenings of classic movies 

In addition to all of the above they offer a variety of arts opportunities especially for Active Duty, Veterans and Military Connected through the annual Otero Arts VETERAN ARTS SHOWCASE:

– Quarterly Veteran Writers Groupswith the next one scheduled for THIS SUNDAY 8/24/25 @4pm)

– VETERANS DAY 2025: Dramatic Readings and Community Education to promote community awareness and prevention of Military Suicide — Auditions Sept for an original play by veteran Pablo Jasso

–MAY 2026: Otero Arts Fourth Annual 

– VETERAN ARTS SHOWCASE, including Open Mic (poets, writers and musicians), and framed art gallery exhibit all month 

–MAY 2026 FOCUS: Empowering Women Veterans Through the Artswill include free workshops by Iraq Combat Veteran/Artist Jenny Pacinowski, founder of Women Veterans Empowered and Thriving (WVET)
