Clovis, NM– On August 27, 2025, the New Mexico State Police arrested a man on the charge of criminal sexual contact of a minor after a victim came forward, prompting an investigation.

The investigation started in July of 2025 when a female revealed she had been sexually assaulted by Timoteo Sambrano (79) of Clovis, NM sometime between 2019 and 2020 when she was around 12 or 13 years old.

The victim stated while at Highlands Baptist Church, Sambrano pulled her shirt down and sexually assaulted her. After interviews were conducted, the case was discussed with the 9th Judicial District Attorney’s office, where they determined there was enough evidence to proceed with charges. Sambrano was arrested on 1 charge of criminal sexual contact of a minor in the fourth degree and booked into the Curry County Detention Center.
