ALAMOGORDO, N.M. — Law enforcement officers are responding to reports of shots fired in the area of 8th Street and Delaware Avenue, according to an advisory issued by the City of Alamogordo on Thursday afternoon.
Per a city statf report, officers on scene have weapons drawn, and the male subject is believed to have multiple firearms inside the residence.
As of approximately 4:36 p.m., officers were also present near 9th Street, 8th Street and New York Avenue, and along Delaware Avenue, the city said. Fire crews and medics are staging at 8th Street and New York Avenue.
The response involves multiple agencies, including New Mexico State Police and Otero County authorities, and officers are conducting interviews at the scene.
The situation remains active and tense as of this update. Police continue to urge residents to stay well clear of the area, remain alert, and follow all instructions from law enforcement.
No injuries have been reported at this time, and no further information has been released about the circumstances of the incident.
