Locals from Alamogordo working at Holloman Air Force base were angered by the annual staged protest and demonstrations against drone usage hosted at the entrance gate of Holloman this past Wednesday.

Protesters blocked an entrance to Holloman Air Force on Wednesday, voicing their opposition to the military’s drone program. Activists with Shut Down Drone Warfare, cosponsored by Code Pink and Veterans for Peace, descended onto the base in Alamogordo for nearly an hour

They called out the military for providing drones to Israel to aid in its war against Hamas. “15,000 children killed in Gaza. Stop the genocide now. The U.S. is sending weapons to Israel that’s committing a horrible genocide,” said a protester.

To oppose and resist the horrors of U.S. drone assassination, for many years they hold weeklong Fall and Spring protests at Creech AFB, the “US Command Central” drone base located near Las Vegas, Nevada. In 2023 they expanded the Drone Resistance Campaign to include Holloman Air Force Base in southern New Mexico, where 700+ drone pilots and operators are trained annually. 
Their new name is SHUT DOWN DRONE WARFARE and were previously known as “Shut Down Creech.

Organizers claim they will continue to return to Creech AFB, Nevada, for fall action weeks; Creech is still the central command center for what they term “the illegal US drone warfare complex.”  Their spring action weeks take place at Holloman AFB, near Alamogordo, in Southern New Mexico. Organizers claim their goal is to “break the silence, educate the public and the military, peacefully interrupt business as usual, and promote GI Resistance in the U.S. military.”

One protester who lay on the pavement was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. Holloman Air Force Base has the largest drone training program in the country, where more than 700 pilots and operators are certified annually.
